Nov 22, 2016Relationships RestoredBy: JordanSeries: The Life of ChristIn the narrative of the Bible we see the break in relationships from the beginning in Genesis 3. There is enmity between humanity and Satan, that is there is a spiritual war going on here thus also including the heavenly host and the fallen angels. We also see that their is strife between humanity even in the most intimate relationships, the ones created to be a metaphor of God's relationship with us. The event of the crucifixion in Jesus life is pivotal in redeeming relationships. Jesus death on the cross is the redemptive event that all of scripture points to. This single event is what makes salvation possible, atoning for our sins, and redeeming man to intimate relationship with God.

Nov 15, 2016Battle the DarknessBy: JordanSeries: The Life of ChristThe event of Jesus suffering in the garden, is significant as it reveals the real burden and suffering Jesus encountered as a divine human. We often just think of Jesus as God, it's easy to discount the level of pain and anguish He encountered on our behalf. This anguish did not begin when being beaten after His arrest, it was an ongoing burden from birth, and here in the garden we are given a depiction of the deepest anguish and sorrow described in Jesus life.
- Nov 6, 2016Hope in the Darkness
Nov 6, 2016Hope in the DarknessBy: JordanSeries: The Life of ChristThis event in Jesus life is significant because this event institutes one of the ordinances of the church, reveals the nearing arrival of the new covenant, and explains the inability of any to remain faithful in their own strength. So though they were entering an extremely dark time, ultimately this darkness would accomplish God's redemptive plan. Though Jesus was about to go through great pain and agony, physically and emotionally being separated from His Father He knew He was doing the work of the Father, accomplishing the mission He came to do.

Oct 30, 2016Lord Save Us!By: JordanSeries: The Life of ChristThe event of Jesus triumphal entry is important because it reveals Jesus kingship and fulfills prophecy. Jesus was worshiped during the triumphal entry because people were proclaiming the sign He did in raising Lazarus from the dead and it seems because of the reputation of His ministry. It also reveals Jesus is the true King and is a lion and a lamb, he conquered by dying to self. We also will be conquerors in the same way, by the same method. We will conquer sin and death through dying to ourselves and being made new by the power of the Spirit.

Oct 16, 2016Jesus the TabernacleBy: JordanSeries: The Life of ChristThis sermon studies Matthew 17:1-13 which is the narrative of the Jesus taking three of His disciples on the mountain to reveal His glory as the true tabernacle in which the full glory of the Father was pleased to dwell. Here is the link to the video on Leviticus explaining the Tabernacle. https://youtu.be/WmvyrLXoQio
- Oct 9, 2016Saving Knowledge
Oct 9, 2016Saving KnowledgeBy: JordanSeries: The Life of ChristThe disciples were blessed not merely to be the church, to be God's chosen people, but to do war against the forces of Hell. How do we do war? What is spiritual warfare? We battle Satan and his minions by proclaiming the truth of who Jesus is, and stealing souls from his grasp through this saving knowledge. We combat hell through knowledge, communicating truth, not just in our actions but through our words combined with our actions.
- Oct 3, 2016The Sermon on the Mount
Oct 3, 2016The Sermon on the MountBy: EricSeries: The Life of ChristIn this sermon Eric summarizes the sermon on the mount this way: "We are in need of a Savior, We share that need with others, Our sin is proof of that need, God calls us to call to him for meeting that need, Jesus is the one who supplies for that need, and under no other name can one be saved."
- Sep 25, 2016The Faithful Son
Sep 25, 2016The Faithful SonBy: JordanSeries: The Life of ChristThis sermon discusses how Jesus' temptation in the dessert reveals Him as the faithful Son of God, and gives us examples of how to be faithful in temptation with the same tools Jesus used, the Word of God, and the Holy Spirit.
- Sep 18, 2016Coronation of The King
Sep 18, 2016Coronation of The KingBy: JordanSeries: The Life of ChristThe event of Jesus baptism was important because this was the inauguration of Jesus ministry. In this text God personally declared the deity of Christ and used scripture from the law, psalms, and prophets as evidence. Just as Jesus would later say in the sermon of the mount he did not come to destroy the Law or the Prophets but to fulfill them. God from His inauguration has declared that this is who all of scripture points to and is fulfilled in.
- Sep 11, 2016Immanuel
Sep 11, 2016ImmanuelBy: JordanSeries: The Life of ChristIn the text here in the opening to Matthew's gospel, the author makes a point of connecting Jesus to what we know as the Old Testament. Matthew builds the foundation for this book on Jesus being the promised Messiah fulfilling God's covenants. Matthew also makes a point of showing us the controversy involved in Jesus birth, and in His chosen lineage. Jesus birth by a virgin fulfilled the prophecy found in Isaiah 7:14 and in context of this chapter we are given the perspective that not only is Jesus "God with us" physically in human form, but He chose to be born in messy circumstances and controversy, resulting in Him personally understanding our pain and struggles.
- Sep 4, 2016Foundation of our Faith
Sep 4, 2016Foundation of our FaithBy: JordanSeries: The Life of ChristThe basis to understanding the Life of Christ is the foundation of who Jesus Christ is. As we see in John 1:1-18 Jesus life does not begin with His physical miraculous birth by a virgin in humble settings. Jesus Christ is the incarnation, physical manifestation of the second person of the trinity, who along with God the Father and the Holy Spirit preexists time and creation.Jesus of Nazareth was and is God. Through His breath, and by His command everything exists and is sustained. Through Him men can receive life and understanding. Not only is He God, but He brought the reality of Gods personal relationship with man to a more complete reality. By becoming flesh He personally dwelled among humanity, was able to relate to them and us as a fellow human, reveal God the Father to us, and make atonement for our sins as a perfect man under the law.The text of John 1:1-18 gives us the context we need to understand who Jesus is which helps us understand the claims He made throughout His ministry here on earth.
